Ned Lamont - An Independent Voice?

Chester, Connecticut — July 2, 2010 — In a recent ad Ned Lamont claims to be an independent voice, yet this is just another example of the political double speak that continues to weary voters. In his ad he rails against corporations, yet also says he is pro jobs. He proudly states that “what you want to do is go up to Hartford and be your own man, be independent” yet eagerly accepts the endorsements of numerous special interest groups as well as 32 legislators, all Democrats.

Judge a person by their actions, not their words. Ned Lamont’s actions make it crystal clear;, Ned is not an independent voice, Ned is a voice of the Democratic establishment.

As the Independent Party candidate, I have taken the steps necessary to separate myself from the major party rhetoric. My campaigning has taken me to municipal transfer stations (fancy term for dump), retail parking lots, fairs, and polling locations as residents voted on their municipal budgets. I have listened to the concerns of mainstream Connecticut, not special interests. I will go to Hartford and “be my own man”, a trait that apparently Mr. Lamont is looking for in the next governor.

History may show that Mr. Lamont’s relationship with independent politicians is limited to the dubious distinction of being the only candidate in Connecticut history to lose two elections, for two different offices, to two different independent candidates.
