Connecticut Independent Party Reaches 4,000 Signatures for Statewide Candidates

Chester, Connecticut — June 8, 2010 — The Independent Party has collected 4,000 signatures towards earning a ballot line in November for all seven statewide offices in Connecticut, according to Mike Telesca, Chairman of the Waterbury Independent Party Town Committee.

State law requires 7,500 certified signatures of registered Connecticut voters by August 4 to get on the ballot for statewide office. The Independent Party began signature collection for statewide offices and a number of other federal and state legislative offices in May.

The Independent Party is the third largest party in Connecticut with approximately 8,000 members, and already has ballot status in over twenty races for the 2010 election. The Independent Party statewide slate is headed by Tom Marsh for Governor. Marsh is the First Selectman of Chester, CT.
